Can you live a simple life without manners?

Back in the 50s and 60s when simple living was at its best perhaps, the wheels of life were greased with manners. What would happen if a simple life was lived without them? Is it possible or are the two interwoven together? Going back even further a quote from The Long Winter by Laura Ingalls Wilder would fit here.

Hello Linda
Has something happened to make you wonder about this?
Take care

No, I just do Kindness posts on Tuesdays sometimes and thought of it. Didn't have a chance to write much though.

Hi Linda,

Manners are something I have tried to instill in my daughters throughout their lives. For the most part they are very polite girls but that 'younger generation' thing does sneak in and sometimes I have to remind them about waiting to go through a doorway or hold a door for another person, not necessarily an elderly person and to be a little more respectful. I think they have an 'everyone for themselves' attitude which probably goes part and parcel with today's fast lifestyle. I still correct them in our own home if they do not say please and thank you. We sit together at the table for nearly every weekday meal, even if it's only for 15-20 minutes. I think they respect our choices and judgement when it comes to going out to parties, dating etc. Our word is final.
We have not had any rebellion in our home and I guess it boils down to the respect they have for us as parents. I have heard both girls comment on some of their friend's parents and their parenting skills and how they handle situations in a bad and negative way with poor outcomes.
I feel blessed that my girls respect us as their parents and as the adults who are ultimately responsible for them.

Jeepers, that got deep and meaningful didn't it!

Cheers - Joolz :D
